Tour Description
DAY 1: Arrival in El Chaltén:
El Chaltén
Upon reaching the bus terminal, our team will warmly welcome you and escort you to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 2: Cagliero Glacier Trekking in El Chaltén:
El Chaltén
We will embark on our trekking adventure at 9:00 a.m., tracing the Diablo River upstream with a 2-hour hike through a verdant lenga forest along a well-maintained path, leading to Laguna del Diablo (770 meters above sea level).
At around 11:00 a.m., we commence the second phase of our excursion, which involves navigating the northern shore of Laguna del Diablo via an easy yet uneven terrain, reaching the start of a via ferrata (a low-difficulty rock-climbing section). This segment spans 1 km with a 200-meter elevation change.
It will take us about an hour to arrive at the glacier's viewpoint, where we'll witness the untouched beauty of the Cagliero South Glacier (950 meters above sea level). From this vantage point, a brief walk leads us to the glacier's edge, where our guides will equip you with crampons, preparing you for the third phase: the glacier walk and trek. Our time on the glacier will be approximately 2 hours, contingent on weather conditions and the group's fitness level.
We will retrace our steps to return, reaching the information center roughly 3 hours later. The transfer from El Chaltén will meet us at 5:30 p.m., and we expect to arrive back at the hotels around 6:30 p.m.
Day 3: Rafting in El Chaltén:
El Chaltén
After equipping each participant with rafting gear, guides will lead the group to the river's entry point, where a briefing on rafting techniques and safety will take place.
Following practice of paddling techniques and safety maneuvers, the group will embark on the water. The initial section spans four kilometers of serene, winding waters with the Fitz Roy as a backdrop, perfect for familiarizing with the raft and river while honing paddling skills for the journey ahead.
The next stage takes us through the ravine area. After the initial rapid, we'll encounter a series of exhilarating rapids over 8 km. The swift river currents will make the raft navigate ups and downs through crystal-clear waters, offering a thrilling natural ride. The final part features a gentle 2 km of calm waters.
Day 4: Lago del Desierto Navigation with Trekking:
Vespignani Glacier:
Departing from El Chaltén, we will travel by bus for 36 km along a picturesque road surrounded by forests and following the Río de las Vueltas.
From the Punta Sur dock, enjoy a 30-minute sail, taking in views of the Huemul and Creston glaciers, before disembarking at the Vespignani Glacier area, situated mid-lake.
Here, we'll embark on the trekking portion, under the watchful eye of an activity guide for safety. Choose from well-marked trails in the Vespignani Glacier Reserve based on your desired difficulty and effort:
The most challenging trail requires about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace to ascend 150 meters, leading to the Vespignani glacier's base and offering stunning views of Mount Fitz Roy's north face.
The intermediate trail is a gentler option, taking just 15 minutes to reach a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint of the Glacier.
After enjoying a farewell snack, we'll embark once more to return to the Punta Sur pier, from where the bus will take us back to El Chaltén.
Day 5: Farewell to El Chaltén
